East Arlington, Vermont, 20th Century raised feather carving. This adorable tiny fellow perches on its driftwood branch. It is only 3.5" high, 5" long x 3" wide. Signed on underside "Ruby Crowned Kinglet, by P. Zeller".
Phillip Zeller was very familiar with the shores of Cape Cod, akin to master carver A. Elmer Crowell. Zeller exhibited for several years at the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum's annual Birds in Art Exhibit in Wausau, Wisconsin. His entry from 1979, a kingfisher, was selected for the Smithsonian Institution in 1980.
