  • Condition: This Religious Folk Art Whimsey is wonderfully done. Dated on the bottle 1946, with a Holy Card of Jesus with His staff and a candle in front, and on the back, a Beautiful young girl with her arms around the Cross with a candle in front. The bottles with the pictures inside are generally referred to as Shrine bottles and most commonly came from Europe. It is believed that they were made by members of religious orders and were commonly sold to travelers on a pilgrimage. The pictures themselves are almost always cutouts of Holy Cards. It is a wonderful piece. Normal age related wear but still a very unique piece.

    Hello & Welcome ! This Religious Folk Art Whimsey is wonderfully done. Dated on the bottle 1946, with a Holy Card of Jesus with His staff and a candle in front, and on the back, a Beautiful young girl with her arms around the Cross with a candle in front. The bottles with the pictures inside are generally referred to as Shrine bottles and most commonly came from Europe. It is believed that they were made by members of religious orders and were commonly sold to travelers on a pilgrimage. The pictures themselves are almost always cutouts of Holy Cards.  Bottle measures 9 1/2" tall.  Normal age related wear and there may be some movement with the moss, a very unique piece.
